        - Cleaning wolf pens at Wolf Park

Yet more fun with the Ricoh digital camera!
Cleaning the Main EnclosureCleaning the main wolf enclosure is kinda fun on a sunny and warm March day. We locked up the brats (Seneca, Miska, Marion, even Karin, not a brat by any means, but good company for the others ... Karin is the alpha female after all... Looks like exhausting work, I think Amanda's collapsed on the deck ;-)
Dead ThingsThe wolves are fed a diet consisting mostly of road killed deer and some livestock which have died of natural causes without receiving medications and such. They enjoy such meals, gives them a lot of enrichment (guts, muscle meat, toys, etc.) and plenty of opportunity for low ranking wolves like Apollo to eat at their leasure.

Call it spring cleaning if you will, but we had a LOT to clean up following all the buildup from storms, grumpy wolves (winter syndrome - AKA TMS in some males) Carcass leftovers abound!

One well loaded truck. The scene from Monty Python's "Holy Grail" movie comes to mind: "Bring out your dead"

This was one well loaded truck!

Tim enjoys his work, perhaps a bit toooooo much....All bagged and ready to go. Tim and Amanda unload the truck. Tim looks like he is the MIGHTY HUNTER here...

My deer has no nose!
How does it smell?
Awful!

OK, maybe I need to get out more...

One BIG nose!Speaking of smelling, here is one cool smeller.

Playing with my macro feature, I have captured the enduring beauty of ... Tristan's nose.

OK, um, maybe an extreme close-up of a canine nosepad is not all that appealing (don't ask about that scratch on his nose either, that's between Tristan and one of the puppies) but you have to admit, those are really kissable lips there...

Karin say's NO!I gave Karin one of the wolf favorites. A pig ear. They really love those bad-for-you processed salty, greasy dog treats. Kinda the equivalent of canine potato chips.

Erin, the ever hopeful puppy, is quite out of luck here. What is Karin's is now Karin's. Icarian pickles anyone!

And she really means it!When Karin say's no, people listen. Well, at least wolf people.

Karin is with, um, with child, or children as the case may be. Probably five of them due in about 4-5 weeks. Her appetite for treats is insatiable. I wonder if she has a craving for cumquats and prawns. For some reason that sounds nummy...

Is that a kissable face or what! ;-)

Orca huggable head :-}You always have to finish off a day with an Orca visit.

This is just a nice photo I took of him after putting him back into his restriction pen. He unfortunately has to be put up at night, but he seems quite willing to go back in his restriction pen.

fungus amongusI almost forgot. Actually I did forget. But here it is now, the fungus. No, not Orca fungus, actually I do not know what kind of fungus this is, but it is growing in the corridor in the gravel. Kinda weird.
Sunset at Wolf Park

I think I'll end this page as the end of the day, in a few images of sunset over Wolf Park. You have to admit, the sunsets at Wolf Park are quite nice. This was taken over the location of the old wolf enclosure, but it is still nice, a typically really nice sunset, typical of those who for eons of forest dwellers eating nuts and berries in trees, would enjoy.
