Desert Sunset and other evening activities Oh, and gas too ;-)
Coasting into the station at Stovepipe Wells, well, not all that bad, but it was quite empty, I got my gas, YIPES - nearly $1.80 a gallon! That's almost as expensive as in San Francisco! Actually, I'm quite glad it was not much higher since they are the only gas for many, many miles...
All gassed up I continued on my way, but I'm nearly there. As the sun dipped down, the red rocks became redder, much redder. Beautifully redder. A cool afternoon brilliantly lit by red rocks everywhere. This was quite nice.
In these parts the sun does not make it to the horizon. Well, I guess it does, kinda has to, but it disappear behind the distant mountains first ;-) It was a great sunset. Not too many clouds, but brilliant colors all the same. I stood by the road and took one photograph after the other. One looking east or the ever redding mountains getting redder, then one looking west of the sun dipping behind the mountains on the other side of the valley. Once again, I took many, many photos of this glorious sunset in the desert. I'll just share a few here.
