Finally, the actual Artists Palette Adventures in Death Valley.
OK, finally, the actual Artist's Palate...

Just as the road began to head back down hill, just past that last canyon, was the namesake of this road. Artist's Palate. It's a really cool formation of reds, yellows, greens and purples all perfected through the process of decomposition. I'm sure glad decomposing rocks and minerals do not smell ;-)

This was a pretty popular spot. I saw people all along the way today once I got as far as Badwater, but this was definitely a well traveled area. There was even a father and three sons, well, I'm assuming he was the father, but anyway, they were ahead and I had to take my time doing other stuff because they were running all up and down these hills and I really did not want to have people pictures today. They sure had a lot of fun though and it was quite impressive that none of them ended up rolling down one of the hills. Although, I do think some ended up sliding down on their rears - they looked quite dusty when done.

I too spent a fair amount of time exploring these hills. The climbing was a lot easier here, well up until I had managed to get about a thousand feet up then I realized that it was indeed getting quite steep and there was that down to still deal with. I managed to yet again take a LOT of photographs including the banner that I specially made for this entire Desert section at the top of each page. That is a 360 image made at a high point of the Artist's Palette and I simply stitched it all together using Photoshop...

After I did the 360, I headed back to the car. Everybody was gone now, it was getting late, and a fearless raven was hanging about. I managed to get one half way decent photo of it before it decided I was not going to feed it so it left.

There are simply too many photos in this section for me to do them justice with a lot of text, so once again, just browse and enjoy :-)
