Monty's 1998 trip to California
Every year I fly out to California to visit friends and relatives and this year is no exception. However, this year I have a notebook computer (which is good enough for web and graphic editing) and a Ricoh digital pocket camera. Soooo, unlike previous trips where I had lots of plans to make a web page and never could find the time, this year I'm going to try making a travel page which will be created while I'm on my trip! Hopefully this will work :-)

My first digital aerial photo Well, it's not much to look at, but this is my first digital aerial photograph. I lucked out in my flight and got a good position in the back of the plane. I always request a window seat (I like to look out) but often I end up with nothing more than a good view of a wing.

This photo was taken right outside of Chicago. This all used to be forest. Much of the midwest used to be forest....

Chicago Wilderness, a coalition in the Chicago area, is putting together a unique plan to make the most of the remnants of the forests, prairies, sand dune beaches, and other natural areas. The Great Lakes Radio Consortium's Lester Graham reports that other large cities are watching to see if Chicago is successful in bringing back native plants and animals to a largely urban area.
